Most active categories

Where makers actually launch, counted by approved listings as of August 30, 2026. The categories near the top take the most submissions each week. The quieter ones further down are usually where it's easiest to place in the top three.

Counting note: a product can be tagged in up to 3 categories, so these bars count tags, not products — 4,456 tags across 1,873 products. The category numbers are meant to sum higher than the product total.

Which categories are moving

The same category counts, split across the last 8 finished weeks: the 4 weeks from July 06, 2026 against the 4 weeks from August 03, 2026. These are small weekly cohorts, so read the direction rather than the size of the gap.

How big a launch week is

Approved launches in each of the last 8 finished weeks. The median week carried 48 launches, with a range of 37 to 79. That is the field you are actually ranked against in any given week.

What a launch actually gets in votes

Votes decide the weekly ranking, and the spread matters more than the average. Across 1,919 approved launches:

1

Median votes per launch

6

90th percentile

78

Most votes on one launch

2%

Launches with no votes

Counting note: this is every vote a launch holds, including the maker's own automatic vote on submission, because that is exactly what the ranking counts. A launch sitting at the median is a normal outcome here, not a failed one — the top of a weekly leaderboard is a short distance away, which is the point of resetting it every Monday.

What the data says about launching in 2026

The weekly rhythm changes how launching plays out. The leaderboard resets every Monday, so a product launched this week is only up against that week's cohort, not every product that ever launched here. Over 39 weeks, that has tended to reward makers who keep showing up more than the ones banking on a single big spike.

If you're deciding where to launch, the busy categories get the most eyes but also the most competition that week; a quieter category is often an easier route to a top-three finish. Still weighing platforms? Our launch platform comparisons and Product Hunt alternatives go deeper on the trade-offs.

How we compiled this report

The numbers here come straight from our live database: approved launches, the weekly launch periods, the categories makers pick when they submit, and the vote counter each launch is ranked by. We refresh them regularly, and we only count approved, public launches — anything still pending or rejected is left out. Category totals count tags rather than products, because a product can sit in up to 3 categories at once. Trend figures cover the most recent finished weeks only, so a week still in progress never enters a comparison. How weekly winners get ranked is written up on our ranking methodology page. If you're a journalist or researcher, feel free to cite these figures with a link back here.
