About
Every city has moments when the sun or moon lines up perfectly with a street, flooding it with golden light. Think Manhattanhenge in New York, but for 17 Australian cities.
CityHenge calculates these celestial alignment events using street bearings, astronomical data and scoring algorithms. Each event is scored out of 100 based on geometric accuracy, street quality and timing, so you know which moments are worth showing up for.
The dataset covers 1.7 million alignment experiences, from common golden hour events to rare once-a-year alignments where both the sun and moon line up with the same street within minutes of each other.
Built solo using Claude Code over a couple of months. The stack is React Native (Expo), FastAPI, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and a lot of astronomy maths. Available on iOS and Android.
